5 suspects believed to be responsible for illegal online gambling site Internet1x2.com have been arrested in Israel. The site was operated out of a luxury villa in Belize, while the server is based in Estonia.
Two of the arrested turned out to be brothers: Idan and Shai Raviv, the “masterminds” of the operation. They employed dozens of Israelis including female card dealers. Idan is suspected of running the business from England, while his brother, Shai, was performing his duties in Tel Aviv.
Using web cameras, the site card dealers interacted with gamblers in Israel. In addition to that, Internet1x2,com offered gambling on a wide range of sports. Wagers were collected with the use of credit cards and funds went directly into brothers’ bank accounts.
The brothers will be charged with money laundering, a series of tax authority violations as well as the gambling charges.
Despite the fact that the site was operating abroad, the site still catered for Israelis and let Israeli users to gamble, and as a result Idan and Shai could be tried under Israeli law.
