CIOs will Help Raise Money for Scholarship

Chief Information Officers (CIOs) from Burger King, Citrix, Northrop Grumman, AutoNation and several cruise lines have been asked to participate in a charity poker tournament. In such a way they are going to help raise over $50,000 in scholarship for 12 ladies to get into the IT industry. The female school leavers will study computers.

The 4th CIO Celebrity Poker Tournament and Casino Night held by ITWomen will take place on November 15th at the Sheraton in Fort Lauderdale.

Last year CIOs from South Florida’s top corporation help raise nearly $30,000 thus providing 7 ladies with scholarship.

Poker fans in South Florida can join the tournament through a donation of $2,500. all of them have a chance to win a cruise with Norwegian Cruise Line and a watch from Monitca Jewelry. Besides, there are spa vouchers, romantic dinners and gift baskets on offer.

The aim of the tournament is to promote professional education and training for women in the field of technology.

The 39th Annual WSOP

The 39th annual World Series of Poker Presented by Milwaukee’s Best Light will take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas from May 30 through July 17, 2008.

In fact, the WSOP tournament room will be open the week of May 26th for two special events. Thus, players will be able to register early and avoid the lines.

The WSOP brand is owned by Harrah’s License Company, LLC an affiliate of Harrah’s Entertainment, the world’s largest provider of branded casino entertainment through its operating subsidiaries. The company owns and manages casinos on four continents.

The 4 new casino and poker sites, Buzz-casino.com, Buzz-poker.com, Vegas-buzz.com and Bet.cn.com, recently launched by online casino 12Buzz.com are aimed at Asian gambling market.

How Much will U.S. Compensation be?

It’s unknown how much the U.S. compensation would be, but it is claimed to come in the form of increased foreign access to the U.S. market. According to the U.S. official opinion, the numbers put forth by the EU for compensation were “faulty” and “exaggerated”.

The U.S. is also involved in a case against Antigua. The island nation is asking for $3.4 billion, while the U.S. is offering $500,000. The Antigua is pressing for its right to take $3.4 billion for the losses.  If being not paid, Antigua threatens to offer copyright-protected products to the Internet without doing anything illegal.

Other WTO members like India, Japan, Costa Rica, Macao, Canada and Australia are in talks with the USA regarding compensation.

Youth Gambling in the US in Decline

Youth gambling is known to have been an issue in the USA. A number of different organizations have made efforts to educate and prevent youth gambling. Youth gambling has also become one of the reasons for the recent online casino gambling ban.

Nowadays the statistics what is the result of the National Annenberg Risk Survey of Youth study show a decline in the number of youth gamblers. The report showed decreases in the percentage of male youths 14-22 who played cards for money (2006: 11.6 percent, 2005: 12.5 percent). Another significant statistics was the decline in the number of male youths 14-17 who gambled weekly and also showed at least one problem gambling symptom (2006: 6.7 percent, 2005: 13.9 percent).

Ladbrokes Starts Advertising in the UK

The UK Gambling Act that came into effect on September 1, allows online gaming companies to advertise in the UK if they meet such criteria as the location where their license is held, the protection of children and social responsibility. Betfair appeared to be the second to present their advertising campaign. William Hill and other online gaming companies will follow with their own adverts.

A Young Israeli Becomes the Winner of the Asia Pacific Poker Tour

The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) has got a winner – Ziv Bacher, a 25-year-old Israeli. The young man scooped $139,872 and a glass trophy having staked all of his 130,000 chips at the Head’s Up stage. It’s his biggest poker prize so far. To say more, from the very beginning of the tournament Ziv looked a likely champion. Australian Jozef Berec, another young player, claimed second place. Sid Kim became third and pocketed $48,081.

More talented players from the Asia Pacific region are expected to participate in the tournament’s Grand Finale in Sydney in December. Asian players are considered to be very good and skillful.
