There are going to be some changes in licensing and regulation of the online gambling industry in the UK. What is being planned is a new tax called Remote Gaming Duty. The tax is expected to be as low as 2% what will make possible for companies to get a UK license and go on operating overseas. The thing is that many UK gambling companies like 888 Holdings and PartyPoker are based in Gibraltar and other offshore places. So, the government was looking for the way to tax them.

The companies will be able to relocate to the UK in September. They’ll get a license under the Gambling Act. But still companies refuse to relocate to the UK if they have to pay the same tax as the brick-and-mortar casinos do, and it makes up to 40 % depending on the size.
