As a result of French gaming companies teaming up and a ban from the French courts, fourteen foreign online casinos including Bwin and Unibet are forced out of the French market.

Despite the government’s agreement to alter the regulations, France is still violating EU policies by not allowing foreign online casino sites to legally operate in the market, as the alterations to regulations have neither been passed nor taken effect. So, if the French courts attempt to ban these companies, they will be forced to stay out of the French market for two years.

The Chinese government has been serious about blocking and banning all forms of illegal internet gambling in the country which is proved by an attempt to implement pre-installed internet filters in all the computers sold in the country. These filters are supposed to block questionable web sites and then add more sites to the already existing list of questionable web sites.

However, filtering plan didn’t work out and the government in China is considering the idea of forming a team that will cut down on the activity through all of the avenues the online casinos use to access Chinese players.

Gaming sites are to be investigated within half a year starting from February till August, and the clean out is promised to be quite thorough.

California has become one of the first states in the USA to consider online casinos and online poker in particular as a source of money for the state budget. At the moment the majority of the gambling activity in the state is processed through the tribes, and the prospect of losing some business to the internet poker sites seems to be rising much argument and caution.

Actually, some tribes are supporting legalization of online casinos in the state, while others are against. Of course, they are protecting their own assets and are expecting deep analysis to be done by unbiased outsiders to assess the potential of a Californian online casino gambling industry.

The European Court of Justice has finally started supporting the efforts of the European Commission in forcing countries to open their doors to foreign gambling companies.

At the moment Spain is hot on the list of the countries breaking EU gambling laws. The disagreement has risen as a result of tax breaks given only to the players winning from Spanish gambling companies, whereas players who gamble and win at offshore online casino sites are to pay taxes on their winnings.

In spite of the fact that Spain is working with relatively open gambling laws now, it still giving clear preference to Spanish based companies. The taxation policy in Spain is, by no means, protective, however, it is not in compliance with the EU laws.

Greece is still refusing to comply with the European Commission’s request to readjust policies and regulations and end the existing online gambling state monopoly. The Greek government explains it as a necessary measure to protect Greek citizens from addiction. In reality, it is all about the money. By blocking foreign online casinos and land betting companies, Greece keeps state control over the gambling money in the country.

It is obvious that the state monopoly is not less dangerous than the foreign gambling companies, but state monopoly works for the state budget only, while foreign online casinos site benefit the whole of the EU Economy.

Of course, there are some countries where the state monopoly can be justified, but how to define the country’s genuine interest?

Mastercard is reported to have blocked transactions between US gamblers and foreign offshore companies. To say more, Mastercard is the first of the major processing companies to announce the blocks.

The reason why the 2006 UIGEA as not worked yet is because there ave been no enforcement policies in place to stop the US gamblers from using their US bank accounts to fund their player accounts.

Mastercard’s approach to the situation doesn’t seem to be positive at all what makes internet gambling industry a frontline issue in the US now.

The UK paper, the Mail on Sunday, featured a security breach at Ladbrokes. The media storm is created by a person whose name is not known, however he goes by the name “Daniel”. So, Daniel who is believed to have previously worked for Ladbrokes and been able to access players’ information through a security breach, claims to have the information of over 10,000 Ladbrokes account holders up for sale. The information in question contains much more than the name and address of gamblers. It also includes account numbers, gambling history data and other personal details. To say more, Daniel claims he still has access to the rest of the company’s 4.5 million registered players, and that sounds like a fiasco for Ladbrokes.

It is known that at the moment Ladbrokes is working with police to investigate the situation and prevent similar situations in future.

The UK gambling market is very liberal, and since 2007 it has grown enormously and expanded beyond traditional online casino gambling sites. Over the past several months scratch card gaming companies have also been looking for the ways to make a comeback to the internet market.

It needs to be mentioned that scratch card games are rather popular in land gambling venues, and the UK online gambling market is already interested in scratch cards. NeoGames, the leading name in the scratch card gaming sector, expressed a desire to partner with an existing scratch card gaming company to make NeoGames’ scratch card games market wider. No doubt, it will be hard for NeoGames to compete with online casinos, and the company will need a very strong implementation strategy while working with the UK scratch card market through Scratch.co.uk.

WMS Games, a major land slots machine seller operating in 9 different countries and in different markets, is to launch a WMS branded online casino into the UK market.

The company’s UK branch will serve dual purposes now: it will focus on the land slots and will be running a large-scale WMS online casino. The Current CEO of WMS has got enough experience and knowledge in the international gambling industry to prepare the group for the launch into the competitive market of online casinos.

Launching the online gaming site, WMS, for sure, will change the company’s image.
